At the cottage, it was supposed to be completely different. The sun was supposed to be shining outside, the air was supposed to smell of grass, and a group of friends was supposed to enjoy a peaceful afternoon. But the weather had its own plans. Suddenly, the sky clouded over, it started to rain, and the pleasant summer day instantly turned into a proper downpour. Everyone huddled inside, watched from the window, and waited for a friend who was due to arrive at any moment.
"He must be on his way by now." "He was supposed to be here an hour ago." "Look, maybe you'll see him!" And so they took turns watching from the window while the rain drummed on the roof outside.
Fortunately, they had their favorite ceramic tea set in the kitchen, with a beautiful crackle glaze. They made hot tea in the teapot, added honey and a few lemon slices, and gradually everyone stopped being angry at the weather. The tea warmed their hands, the honey sweetened their mood, and the rain suddenly wasn't so bad. And then, finally, he appeared at the gate.
Soaking wet, with his hair plastered to his forehead and the expression of someone who had just survived a small expedition through a monsoon. "So, were you waiting for me?" he sighed. "Of course!" the others laughed. "But we were starting to think we'd drink the tea without you."
They sat him down at the table, poured him hot tea and something spicy to go with it, and in a moment everything was just as it should be. Let it rain peacefully outside. After all, good friends, warm tea, and beautiful ceramics can save even the worst of days.
