Dušan Stieranka is one of the artists whose painting is based on the classical tradition of oil painting, sensitive observation of nature, and refined work with color and light. His work features landscapes, still lifes, and floral motifs, as well as urban and figurative subjects.
He is characterized by a peaceful, lyrical atmosphere and harmonious color palette. His paintings are not dramatic; rather, they invite the viewer to pause and quietly contemplate the subject. In his landscapes, he is able to capture the atmosphere of a specific place, while in his still lifes and floral compositions, his sense of decorativeness, detail, and soft lighting is particularly evident.
Stieranka's painting continues the realistic painting tradition, enriching it with a more relaxed, at times impressionistic perception of light and color relationships. An important part of his work is the painting technique itself – working with oil paint, layering it, and applying it with sculptural brushstrokes creates a pleasant depth and pictorial softness on the canvas.
His works appeal primarily to viewers who seek beauty, peace, and a natural atmospherein art, and who see the painting not only as a work of art but also as a harmonious part of the interior.
