Dušan Stieranka belongs to the authors whose artistic expression is based on the classical tradition of oil painting, sensitive observation of nature and cultivated work with color and light. His work features mainly landscapes, still lifes, floral motifs, but also urban and figurative subjects.
Characteristic of him is a peaceful, lyrical atmosphere and harmonious color palette. His paintings do not look dramatic, rather they invite you to stop and quietly perceive the motif. In landscape paintings, he can capture the atmosphere of a specific place, while in still lifes and floral compositions, his sense of decorativeness, detail and soft lighting mood stands out.
Stieranka's painting continues the realistic painting tradition, which he enriches with a more relaxed, at times impressionistic perception of light and color relationships. An important part of his work is the painting technique itself – working with oil paint, its layering and plastic application creates a pleasant depth and pictorial softness on the canvas.
His works appeal primarily to the viewer who seeks beauty, peace and a natural atmosphere in art, while the painting is intended to be not only a work of art, but also a harmonious part of the interior.
