This chameleon has clearly decided that blending in with its surroundings is boring. Instead, it has chosen to shine—dot by dot. Painted using the pointillism technique, where every detail is created by patiently applying colored dots, it looks like a small optical experiment with a big ego.
Acrylic paints give it richness and energy, while the glossy epoxy resin on the surface creates the effect of it having just come out of a salon for reptiles. Light glides over it, the colors change depending on the viewing angle—and the chameleon quietly enjoys being the center of attention.
It is a creature that can adapt, but prefers to show off. Elegantly. Dotted. And with a proper shine.
The picture is created from thousands of colored dots of different sizes. This is a technique known as dot painting, which is currently often used in decorative art, mandalas, and contemporary figurative art. Technically, it resembles pointillism, which was used by painters such as Georges Seurat or Paul Signac. The difference is that:
- classical pointillism created an optical mixing of colors,
-
this picture uses dots more decoratively and structurally.
This type of picture is very popular in modern interiors because it combines a figurative motif with a contemporary graphic and decorative expression.
