At the end of winter, when the landscape falls so still that even the wind sounds like a distant memory, there is a place in the mountains where the frost does not cover things with only a layer of white. It captures them in time.
The trees there stand frosted down to the smallest twig, the grass beneath your feet glitters like glass, and occasionally a single rose appears among the rocks. Not red, but almost transparent, with a delicate pink hue. As if a little warmth from summer remained hidden inside it, which winter could not dampen.
When night comes and the landscape is bathed in moonlight, the frost on the rose glows. The flowers look as if they were carved from ice, but inside they still hold their color.
It is precisely then that one can understand why some things should not be protected from winter. They must go through it.
A rose under frost is the image of a person who has preserved their gentleness even in a period that could have long ago turned them to stone. It is not fragile because it is vulnerable. It is fragile because it chose to remain beautiful.
And when winter finally ends, the first rays of sunshine will touch the frosted flower. The frost will disappear, but the pink hue will remain.
Just like a memory of something that was able to survive the coldest night.
